Hot water
…on demand.
Amway Summer Internship
I worked at Amway Head Quarters in Ada, Michigan for 12 weeks. There, I was a part of the RPC (Rapid Prototyping Center) Team who is known for creating professional-grade samples in-house using state-of-the-art equipment. I was tasked with ideating a product using Amway’s design language and we worked together to physically create the next marketable product in the eSpring line.

Overview
Design a hot water dispenser catering to the unique cultural preferences and lifestyle habits of consumers in East Asia. The product should provide hot water on demand efficiently and safely, integrating innovative features that enhance user experience and convenience.
Research
Primary and Secondary market research conducted highlighted a common pain point and ABO (Amway business owner) request for a stand-alone hot water dispenser that compliments the existing eSpring products.
The target market includes households, offices, and small businesses in East Asian countries where hot water consumption is a daily practice for brewing tea, preparing instant noodles, and other culinary uses.
Design Process
3D printing machines played a crucial role in the development of our hot water dispenser design. Through multiple print attempts, we identified and resolved various errors, refining the design with each iteration.
This iterative process ensured our final high-fidelity prototype was manufacturable, fully disassemblable, and provided ample space for internal components.
